Calling all zine-makers!
Inspired by the Flashpoint! Protest Photography in Print, 1950–Present reading room currently on view, CPW and 10×10 Photobooks are hosting an open call for photo-based protest and resistance zines. If accepted, submissions will be included in CPW’s Community Gallery, July 12-August 10, 2025.
CPW, founded in 1977 as the Center for Photography at Woodstock, is dedicated to achieving social change via photography.
Deadline for submission and receipt of zine: July 9, 2025.
- We seek PHOTO-BASED zines only.
- Zines that do not include photography will not be considered.
In particular, we seek photo-based zines that address the following protest and resistance topics:
- ANTI (Sub-themes include: Anti-Government, Anti-Globalization, Anti-Censorship)
- GENDER (Sub-themes include: Women’s Bodies, Women’s Rights, AIDS, LGBTQ+ Rights)
- DISPLACEMENT (Sub-themes include: Land and Housing Rights, Territorial Disputes, Migrant Crises)
- RACE & CLASS (Sub-themes include: Apartheid, Civil Rights & Black Identity, Black Lives Matter, Anti-Imperialism, Workers’ Rights)
- ENVIRONMENT (Sub-themes include: Nuclear Disasters, Pollution & Contamination, Extinction)
- POLITICAL (Sub-themes include: Student Protests, National Populism, Struggle for Independence, Revolution)
- WAR & VIOLENCE (Sub-themes include: War Protests, Effects of War, Gun Violence & Massacres)
A selection from the photo-based zines submitted will be included in CPW’s Community Gallery on a rotating basis.
